Dog owners in Sweden must keep their dogs under control at all times. The Swedish Act on the Supervision of Dogs and Cats requires owners to prevent their dogs from causing harm, disturbance, or risk to people, animals, or wildlife. Owners are legally responsible for any damage their dog causes.
From 1 March to 20 August, dogs must be kept on a leash or otherwise strictly controlled in nature areas to protect wildlife during the breeding season.
